Bark Hearts

Show your pet some love with these cute conversation heart cookie treats, your pet will be sure to love you back!

And remember, when cooking for dogs never use artificial sweeteners or other potentially harmful ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups oat flour
  • 2 Cups all-purpose flour or whole wheat flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons melted coconut oil
  • 1 Cup applesauce
  • Yogurt chips*
  • (Optional) All-natural food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350º F (175º C).
  2. Combine all ingredients into a standard size mixing bowl (mixing wet ingredients first, then adding the dry ingredients).
  3. Divide dough into 4 equal portions.
  4. (Optional) Add the food coloring to each section to make different colored cookies. You want the dough cold. You can freeze for 1–2 hours (just don't let it get solid!).
  5. Roll out each portion.
  6. Use heart shaped cookie cutters to make your Bark Hearts.
  7. Place cookies on a parchment-lined cookie sheet.
  8. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown on the bottom.
  9. Cool completely before frosting and decorating the cookies.
  10. Melt yogurt chips in a microwave safe container for 10 seconds at a time until they are melted.

You can store your cookies in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks at room temperature, or freeze them for longer storage life.

Please make sure that you are using unsweetened yogurt without any artificial sweeteners or xylitol. It is important to consult your veterinarian if your dog is sensitive to certain foods or if they have any allergies.
